Poet, short story writer, documentary film director and a founding member of the Black Film and Video Network, Roger McTair taught media writing at the School of Communication Arts at Seneca @ York. For over 30 years, Roger has been active in cultural and educational activities in the Black and larger Toronto communities. Roger’s interest in documentary film parallels his ongoing interest and participation in Canadian society. His film, Journey to Justice, focuses on the role of Blacks in Canada’s civil rights movement. McTair’s films have been shown at a number of North American festivals and screenings. Journey to Justice received the Black Film and Video Network’s award for best documentary film and has been shown at universities across Canada. Journey to Justice was aired on TVOntario. In 1993, he received the Award of Merit from the City of Toronto for his contribution to the life of the city.
